Projects

This page collects some of my digital projects that take less conventional scholarly forms. Projects that are more recent, or just more important to me, are closer to the top. Headers link to the projects elsewhere on the site or around the internet.

Rhetoricity

Rhetoricity is a podcast I've been hosting and producing since 2015. Most episodes feature interviews with scholars in and around rhetoric, composition, and writing studies. Others feature a variety of audio experiments. It's a labor-intensive project, so given my other professional responsibilities, the release schedule is irregular and prone to lacunas.

Twine Games

I teach a few writing-intensive courses focused on video games. In those courses, I often have students use Twine to create text-based games. I frequently make small games to demonstrate some of Twine's features to my students, and I've collected some of those games and other Twine resources on the page linked here.

RSA Oral History Initiative

At the 2018 Rhetoric Society of America conference, I served as project coordinator for the RSA Oral History Initiative, which was part of the celebration of RSA's 50th anniversary. For that project, a team of interviewers recorded 21 oral history interviews with founding or long-term members of the society. The project is housed on the society's own website. I also coauthored a piece called "A Living Rhetorical Enterprise" that provides additional context on the initiative.

"Four Movements"

In 2012, I created a four-part video series documenting the Conference on College Composition and Communication. The series engages themes of movement, mobility, and multimodality. I am still in the process of migrating this project, so some aspects may not work properly.

"Risking Uncertainty: Questioning Thesis Statements"

In 2015, I recorded a screencasted version of my presentation for the Conference on College Composition and Communication. I created the presentation using Prezi. The presentation grew into the final chapter of my book, Responsible Pedagogy.
